Where I’m from”
By Nicarline Perdomo
I’m from the aroma of Mangu,
To the blasting Saturday vibrations
I am from a reflection forming
an outline to match
The growing vines with a beautifully carved outside
As it’s part of me
I am from the animated display
of new crowds
Beanstalk of new opportunities
and construction
I am from glow and glasses
I am from words but mostly the sound
It brings with it
I’m from sweet to savory
To ice to fire
I am from the nature of the beast
From the butterflies to the roses
I’m from the waves that splash
you
I’m from the sweet pastries to the
Hot chocolate
I’m from capturing memories
To finding old ones
I’m from boxes full of old charms
Polaroids scattered with old and
new people
Old and new memories
I am from all those memories before
everything faded
To who I am today
